WHO IS CHEONG KEE HAKKA LAO?
Cheong Kee Hakka Lao was founded by Yip Ding Quan, originated from Hakka Mei Xian, China and moved to Ipoh, Malaysia in 1946. He handmade fishballs, meatballs (Hakka pork balls), pork tendon balls and so on. From the 1940s to the 1970s, people usually sell food in roadside stalls. They must endure the rain and hot sun all day long. Cheong Kee Hakka Lao was located in cinema street of the new Ipoh town. Our stall was known by everyone as Cheong Kee Hakka Lao for its delicious Hakka dishes and became famous since then. Hakka Lao means a man of Hakka.


STEAMBOAT CULTURE
Due to the prohibition of roadside stalls by the Ipoh City Hall, Cheong Kee Hakka Lao moved to a coffee shop in the 1980s. All in all, Cheong Kee Hakka Lao has a history of 70 years and was inherited by the third-generation heir to inherit the Chinese traditional handmade Hakka dishes. The most important thing is we blend Chinese steamboat culture with the handmade Hakka secret recipe to bring superb taste steamboat to you.
OUR MISSION
We want to inherit the Chinese traditional handmade Hakka secret recipe from our ancestors so that more people can experience the original traditional Hakka dishes.
Steamboat is a part of Chinese culture to enjoy dishes together with the whole family. We called it as a reunion dish. Therefore, Cheong Kee decides to blend the Chinese steamboat culture with traditional Hakka handmade stuffings, Hakka noodles, fresh meat and seafood together with the traditional secret recipe of Hakka soup.
